My Fantasy Organization

As an AB Organizational Communication student, perhaps you may be wondering how can I connect my course with the national issue of irresponsible and destructive urbanization. I have been studying and working local organizations for over a year now, and it's been a wonderful experience though orgs can also be very competitive and unpredictable; more like gladiators in arenas fighting for their lives against intruders. But above all, the most important thing is their advocacy; their goal; their contribution to our society. I have researched that there's no particular org yet that seeks to criticize and "adjust" the urban planners for their actions. So, that's why I am here to create my very own fantasy organization!

Organization name: Utopia Foundation, Inc.

Org type: NGO / Non-profit

Tagline: "One small step for urban living. One giant step for our nation."

Founder / Chairperson / El Presidente: Your very one and only!

Vision: We envision liveable and sustainable cities, towns and other forms of urban development around the country that flourishes the image of a "utopian" Filipino community.

Mission: We seek to guide, advocate and influence urban planners into creating desirable urban living in different parts of the country. During the process, we highly accommodate open communication, considerations and inquiries in letting the public know that everyone is involved in this movement.

Org structure: Dispersed headquarters; 5 all over the country; main headquarters is in Manila

Org size: total of 300 employees

Sample campaigns:

  • "Little Builder's Contest"- elementary and high school students get to compete in designing a unique urban environment
  • "Rate Your Home & Community"- a blog / blog cluster designed to get close and voice out different people's opinions about their local community lifestyle; professionals join in and give tips to these people
  • "The People's Party"- a culmination party event to be held in Taguig, free from corporate sponsors and the like; focuses on getting to know people from different strata of society; everyone is invited; free-of-charge; first-come-first-serve, only 1000 people are allowed
