Extra Point Post: "Let's Talk About Design Art!"

On July 27, 2012, I attended a graphic design talk called  "Let's Talk About Design Art!" held in Room 403 in Yuchenco building arranged by DLSU's very own TeamCommunication.

I was initially expecting the place to be half-full, but there were only about 15 audiences. Anyway, it was still worth the time! Ms. Danika Navarro and Ms. Soleil Ignacio helped me understand and inspire graphic design as an artistic tool for multiple purposes.

Let's start with Soleil. She has a really good blog here, http://choleil.com/. Graduated from UP Diliman's College of Fine Arts, she has explored various artistic endeavours in the filed of graphic design. I can really say- she has superb drawing skills! Just look at her sketches.

Would you believe that there are only hand-drawn and water-coloured images?! Amazing, right?

She had also worked for big time publications, like Status, Garage and Mega Magazine, where her skills got more renowned.

And, she does great print ads too.

All I can say is her art direction is very unique and well adaptable which is contrasts from my style of using bold and straightforward graphics.

In only a span of a few years, she has achieved such incredible feat, as she aims to expand her craft in the upcoming years.

Next, we'll move on Danika. Although she hasn't posted her graphic design works in a blog or website yet, she has a fashion blog since she is also a fashion  enthusiast. Currently studying in Ateneo de Manila University majoring in Information Design, she has created stunning works for different people even before graduation. From designing tickets to wedding invitations, she has done it all. But really, her best work was re-designing the entire Holy Bible, injecting a macabre of her own artistic sophistication; it was for her thesis which spanned to almost 500 pages! Now, that's impressive. Lastly, she follows by her own motto: "Dream hard. Work harder. Pray hardest."

All I can show you is some of her works in the blog. If you wanna check her previous school works, stay updated because her graphic design blog is coming very soon!

These awe-inspiring two designers show us how everyone can do beautiful works of art too if you just find the right people and persevere in your craft.
